LIST OF TEST MATCHES 2021- Cricket has started with Test cricket. Test cricket is the longest format of cricket. It is play internationally for 5 days. The first Test match was played between England vs Australia on 15–19 March 1877 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Australia won by 45 runs.
Again the Test match was played between these two teams in 1977,on the completion of 100 years
And interestingly, this time also the difference between victory and defeat was only 45 runs. And this time also Australia did the same in its name.
Marylebone Cricket Club is the creator of the rules of cricket that govern the game.
The rules formulated to apply to all matches of two innings.
The International Cricket Council has implemented “standard playing conditions for Test matches” and standard playing conditions for one-day international matches, to further the International Cricket Council’s rules of cricket.
Similarly, every cricket playing country has implemented the terms of the game to control domestic cricket.
Sides designated as “England” began to play in the late 18th century, but these teams were not truly representative.
Early international cricket disrupted by the French Revolution and the American Civil War.
The earliest international cricket match was between the USA and Canada, on 24 and 25 September 1844.
It was never been officially consider a “Test match”. Tours of national English sides abroad took place, particularly to the US, Australia, and New Zealand.
The Australian Aborigines team became the first organized overseas cricketers to tour England in 1868.
Two rival English tours of Australia proposed in the early months of 1877, with James Lillywhite campaigning for a professional tour and Fred Grace for an amateur one.
Grace’s tour fell through and it was Lillywhite’s team that toured New Zealand and Australia in 1876–77. Two matches against a combined Australian XI were later classified as the first official Test matches.
The first match, won by Australia with 45 runs and the second by England.
After reciprocal tours established a pattern of international cricket, The Ashes established as a competition during the Australian tour of England in 1882.
A surprise victory for Australia inspired a mock obituary of English cricket to be published in the Sporting Times the following day:the phrase “The body shall be cremated, the ashes were taken to Australia” prompted the subsequent creation of the Ashes urn.
The series of 1884–85 was the first to be held over five matches:England player Alfred Shaw, writing in 1901, considered the side to be “the best to have left England”.
South Africa became the third team to play Test cricket in 1888–89 when they hosted a tour by an under-strength England side.
Test cricket is bound by the rules in which certain rules are made under which all teams play. Rules 27 to 29 refer to the major procedures in which a batsman can be dismissed.
Rule 27- Appeal. If the fielders believe that the batsman is out, they can ask the umpire “How is that?” This usually done by loudly shouting, raising both hands, before throwing the next ball.
After that, the umpire decides whether the batsman is out or not. However, a batsman who is out leaving the pitch normally without waiting for an appeal or an umpire’s decision.
Rule 28- Several ways to get out when a wicket dropped. This means that the ball is on the wicket, or the batsman or the hand in which the fielder is holding the ball is on the wicket and at least one gill has been dropped.
Rule 29- The batsman is out of his crease, the batsman can be run out or stumped out if he is out of his crease.
The batsman is in his place, but if he or some part of his bat is on the ground behind the popping crease.
If both the batsmen are in the middle of the pitch when the wicket is dropped, then the batsman who’s close to that end is called out.
