MESSI FINED 600 EUROS FOR HIS TRIBUTE TO MARADONA
BARCELONA, Spain- Lionel Messi was fined 600 euros ($720) for taking his jersey off to pay tribute to Diego Maradona.
The Spanish soccer federation said on Wednesday.
Lionel Messi took off his team’s jersey after scoring the last goal from outside the box during Barcelona’s 4–0 win against Osasuna on 29 November.
Showing the jersey of Newell’s Old Boys as a tribute to the legendary player Maradona. Messi then blew a kiss with both hands to the sky as he looked upward.
After the game, Lionel Messi posted a photo of him alongside Maradona in the same jersey of Newell’s Old Boys.
He wrote: Hasta siempre, Diego, means Goodbye, Diego.
The federation also refused to void the yellow card that was shown to Messi for taking off his jersey.
Fined Barcelona 180 euros ($216).
Messi and the club can appeal the decisions
