Winters are here which also brings along some problems for your skin. Winters make your skin rough, damaged, and you start losing the natural glow from your skin.
Moisture escapes from your skin when it doesn’t have enough protective oils and minimum required water in the outer layer of the skin. This effect increases during the winters because the humidity level is low. Another reason behind dry and patchy skin is the overuse of soap and hot/cold water.
So, in this article, we have got you a proper set of skincare tips for your face, lips, hands, and feet that you can follow this winter season. Have a look!
Hot showers in winters may relax your muscles, but it tends to strip away the natural oils from the skin, so it’s important that you opt for lukewarm water that is also very gentle on the skin.
When it’s cold outside we often forget to drink enough water throughout the day, but this is just when low humidity is most likely to strip our poor skin of its moisture. It is very important to maintain hydration from inside out. So, drinking some warm water with lemon in the morning can be a great hack to refresh and hydrate your skin from deep within. Remember that moisture and hydration begin with a glass of water.
As well as drinking water, there are lots of foods that have a high water content which can help you stay hydrated.
Eating more citrus, vegetables, seafood, nuts, and seeds and drinking plenty of fluids are habits that not only may help you avoid dry skin this winters, but they are also good for every cell in your body. After all, healthy-looking skin is considered an outward reflection of a healthy inside, not only in winter but year-round.
4.CHOOSE A CLEANSER CAREFULLY
The battle against dry skin is a never-ending one in winter. The corners of your nose, the delicate under-eye area, your wind-chapped cheeks—they’re all crying out for moisture. Every step of your skin-care routine should be adding a dose of hydration at this point—even your cleanser.
Choose Oil-based products that are gentle and soothing on dry winter skin while being equally effective at removing make-up and daily grime.
5.EXFOLIATE YOUR SKIN
Exfoliation may be the last thing on your mind but there are benefits to exfoliating your skin during winters. Skin cells dehydrate and dry faster during the winter season. Letting these dead skin cells go is important for new, healthier cells to develop. Once or twice a week, you will want to give your skin some replenishment in the form of exfoliation.
A hydrating moisturizer is an essential part of your winters skincare routine. Choose your facial moisturizer and body lotion carefully. We recommend oil-based products rather than water-based to keep important hydrating oils in your skin. Apply moisturizer or lotion immediately after washing to lock in as much moisture as possible, and don’t forget to include your hands and your feet.
7.DON’T FORGET YOUR HANDS AND FEET
Winter’s chill makes it easy to forget about taking care of your hand and feet – but it’s still vitally important!
Our hands have got the thinnest skin as compared to any other body part. So they need little extra care. Keep them moisturized from time to time.
If I talk about feet, make sure you scrub the skin of your feet weekly so that it can absorb the moisturizer properly and prevent you from cracked feet.
Choose glycerin-based creams and petroleum jelly to moisturize your feet.
8.BE GENTLE WITH YOUR LIPS
As the temperatures drop, the dry winter wind strips the moisture away from your lips leaving them chapped, flaky, slit, sore, and whatnot.
The number one rule of winter lip care is to always keep your lips hydrated. Apply petroleum jelly like Vaseline Original Pure Skin Jelly to heal chapped lips and moisturize them.
9.DON’T FORGET YOUR SUNSCREEN
We may reach for the sunscreen automatically during the warmer months, but sunscreen is just as important during winter to shield from those harmful UVs. So, always apply a generous amount of sunscreen even in the winter season.
Yes! I know it’s hard to leave the warmth and coziness of the blanket behind and get moving on a chilly winter morning. But do it if you love your skin. Exercise will pump up your heart rate, which in turn, pumps more blood to your organs and skin.
During the winters, the oil and sweat glands in your body and the blood vessels constrict a bit. This makes it hard for your skin to keep itself healthy and glowing naturally, and that’s why it needs your help.
